A host of new models will be unveiled by Ishida Europe at Interpack, covering the company’s entire product portfolio of multihead weighers, checkweighers, bagmakers, tray sealers and X-ray inspection systems.
Focusing on some of the major areas where the company enjoys global market leadership — weighing equipment, quality control systems and solutions for the packing of snacks and fresh foods, as well as its after sales service — the Ishida stand will demonstrate the benefits of automation in delivering improved efficiencies, maximum throughput and fast return on investment. Ishida is unique in offering the breadth of equipment that enables the company to devise fully integrated production lines that are simple to operate and reduce downtime and cost.
One of the highlights of Ishida’s snacks equipment ranges will be an enhanced version of its proven Atlas iTPS™ high-speed snack food packing system for small and medium size bags, featuring a new kidney-shaped 18-head multihead weigher, which the company says helps to maximise product transfers and speed while minimising product damage. The twin tube design enables two different products or pack sizes to be run independently at speeds of 140 bags per minute each side (280 in total) with near-zero product giveaway and close to 100% efficiency. The system’s compact design delivers optimum return on factory space.
Among several new quality control models to be launched at the exhibition will be an addition to Ishida’s checkweigher range. The DACS-G model delivers even higher speed and accuracy and, at the touch of a button, can switch between two weighing ranges, allowing food manufacturers to handle more products on one machine. A unique dislocating force limiter automatically disconnects the weigh sensor from the weigh conveyor should sudden excessive force be applied (for example during clean down), protecting the DACS-G against rough handling.
Multihead weigher developments include a model specifically developed to handle whole root vegetables and citrus fruit, which combines gentle product handling with speeds of up to 60 packs per minute, and two high-speed weighers, one designed for large target weight, bulky products such as French Fries, frozen vegetables and pet food, the other developed for stick-shaped products such as salt and bread sticks. These join Ishida’s existing range of well over 200 different models, demonstrating the company’s unique ability to design and tailor models for practically every type of food application.
Innovations for handling fresh and convenience foods include a unique weigh-batcher system for fresh poultry and other sticky meat products. An Ishida screw feeder weigher provides individual product potions which are delivered to separate packing stations where operators optimise the arrangement and presentation. The on-demand system utilises typically eight operators who can normally pack 50 trays per minute with less than 2g giveaway per tray.
Ishida says several more machine developments are currently under wraps and will be launched at the start of Interpack.
