Oerlikon Balzer's BALINT coatings can be used on machines for a number of food processing applications including meat grinding, piston pumps, and wine bottling systems. Food processing machinery components work in a corrosive, abrasive, and non-lubricated environment. Typically, either soft stainless steels or hardened martensitic steels are used. They are just about adequate for coping with the demands of resistance to abraisive wear and galling.
