SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company, will participate as a Silver sponsor at the 2013 Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) South Africa Focus Day, to be held in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 11 September 2013.
GFSI, coordinated by The Consumer Goods Forum, was launched in May 2000. The GFSI Foundation Board provides the strategic direction and oversees the daily management of the GFSI. The GFSI mission is to provide continuous improvement in food safety management systems to ensure confidence in the delivery of safe food to consumers worldwide.
The GFSI Focus Day will provide the South African food industry stakeholders with thorough background information on the principles behind the GFSI and will demonstrate real examples of the benefits that working within the GFSI framework provides. It will also serve as a unique opportunity for networking and knowledge exchange with top food safety experts and decision makers from global companies, local South African food industry and government.
"SGS is proud to sponsor the first-ever GFSI Focus Day in South Africa and support the delivery of safe food to consumers worldwide," says Elfriede Giard, business manager, systems and services certification at SGS South Africa.
The GFSI Focus Day is part of our continued effort to build awareness, exchange knowledge and educate food safety professionals on the Global Food Safety Initiative and our activities, specifically in markets where the GFSI Board has determined a specific strategic focus.
