Canada’s Fruit d’Or acquires US-based Decas Cranberry Products

Canadian cranberry and wild blueberry processing company Fruit d’Or has announced the acquisition of Decas Cranberry Products (Decas).

Based in Carver, Massachusetts, US, Decas offers a line of various sweetened dried products and fresh cranberries under the Decas Farms brand to food manufacturers.

The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.

Fruit d’Or executive vice-president and CEO Carl Blouin said: “This acquisition supports the objective of strengthening Fruit d’Or’s positioning and will help meet the high international demand for berries.

“To remain a leader in our field, we must constantly create new opportunities and focus on innovation. Together, we will be well-positioned to bring our berries to new heights.”

According to the deal, Fruit d’Or will acquire the Decas processing plant and its producing acres.

Decas will operate as Fruit d’Or’s American subsidiary and retain the Decas name, as well as the brand name of Decas Farms.

It will continue to be headquartered in Carver.

The deal is expected to further enhance Fruit d’Or’s position in North America.
